Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids

Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids

Our littles love holiday crafts and get so proud of making something to help decorate.ย  If you are looking for some kid entertainment for Thanksgiving Day, here are some craft ideas! We did a little sponge painting to make turkeys to hang on the fridge. We did some fun leaf prints to appreciate fall foliage.ย  We strung some beaded corn on the cobs, and we put together some popsicle stick scarecrows and turkeys for the thanksgiving tablescape.

Sponge Painted Turkey Tails

What kid doesn’t love to paint!ย  These guys had so much fun creating a swirl of colors for the turkey tail.ย  It is a pretty simple craft with white paper plates you probably have in the cupboard.ย  You can also get creative with the different types of materials you use for the face.ย  We like craft foam around here for those types of things. I love how each kids art looks different.ย  Really gave them space to create their look.

Crayon Leaf Rubbing

Leaf prints are another easy craft you can do with stuff you have around the house.ย  This thanksgiving, take a walk after your big meal and find some leaves.ย  The leaves need to be green and fresh to work.ย  If you get dry brittle ones, they will just crack under the crayon.ย  Next you just get regular printing paper and tape it down over the leaf (the tape helps keep it down when the littles start rubbing).ย  We peeled the crayons and started rubbing the crayon on its side over the leaf. The kids were in awe when the leaf print started showing up.

Bead & Pipe Cleaner Corn on the Cob

This was probably the kids favorite craft of the day! They all loved picking their bead colors and stringing them up.ย  You take 6 pipe cleaners, fold them in half and then twist them together making 6 arms.ย  Then tell the kids to make fun color patterns.ย  After they get near the top on each arm, leaving about an inch of room.ย  You can finish it off by twisting them all together to create the husk on top.

Popsicle Stick Scarecrow and Turkey

Our last craft was a storebought one from Michael’s Craft store by creatology.ย  This craft was pretty easy as it was just stickers you put together.ย  The boys made scarecrows and the girls made teal turkeys.ย  We did have a good laugh when one of the girls put the heart shape breast upside down! (see last picture above) lol

ย

Craft time is always a fun time to let the kids get creative and spark their imaginations.ย  It definitely makes the holidays that much more fun also!ย  So, when you are looking to entertain the kids on Thanksgiving, give one of these crafts a try!
