Magical Mermaid Birthday Party

I had so much fun planning this little mermaid/under the sea party.  With this party I wanted to incorporate a few cute table scapes, food labeled like under the sea and give the kids some fun sea toys to play with.  I also fell in love with the idea of a photo op or in this case, a shelfie op!  I started planning a few months in advance because this was the summer she learned to swim and also has become obsessed with little mermaid, so it was perfect timing. Kind of an end of the summer wrap party to celebrate my 3 year old!

The Invitation

This invitation was everything. A customized video invite you can text out to people was perfect and just over the top enough to shine.  Once I picked out the design I just had to send a photo and the details and I got the proof within 24 hours.

The Signs

I found a set of cute graphics that matched my invitation on etsy for the signs, food labels and thank you tags.  These graphics and colors were the colors that would tie my theme together.  The food labels were so cute too.  I had fish n chips, kelp, seashells, pearls, lifesavers, shark bait, driftwood, and so many other cute play on word labels. Now that I had some ideas from the food signs I needed to think about how many table scapes and areas I would need to dress up.

The Table Scapes

We had a food table, a drink table, a sweet treat table, an eating area and a welcome table I wanted to decorate.  I started collecting items months before the party that I thought would make the area come to sea life.  I found oversized floating squids, bubble strings, table covers and skirts with our colors, food serving bowls that go with the theme, sea glass bottles, nets, coral and other little details of under the sea.

The Shelfie Area

You know the saying you do it for the gram, well I do it for the photos.  I am a sucker for documenting our moments and this was a moment for us. As a single mom by choice I don’t often get the opportunity to get a picture with my girl so I made sure to capture this moment with her before all the festivities started.  It was also a big hit with all the other kids as a photo op with a trident or mermaid tail.

The Balloon Arch

Why does the ballon tail get a spotlight? Well because it was the first balloon art thing I’ve ever tried and I’m proud of how it came out.  It was an easy inexpensive piece to make the party become larger and more fun.  If you’ve ever had a 3 year old you also know they love balloons, so if there is anything that I recommend as party decor it is now a balloon arch.

The Sweet Treats

This was by far the prettiest part of the party.  My sister wanted to try and bake some goodies for the dessert table with her daughter and they blew me away with their cake, cupcakes, homemmade chocolate mermaid tails and cake pucks.  If you want to see more on how she made these desserts check out her latest post on doing some mermaid desserts here.

The party ended with the kids floating on the giant seashell and giant sea turtle floats.  It was a party to remember for sure.
