Homemade Edible Color Sensory Sand

I found this recipe on instragram from @mothercould and thought I would give it a try.  The results were amazing and the kids loved it; However, I am not sure I fully enjoyed the process of making it.  It was definitely a sensory experience for me just to make the stuff and well it was messy!
 
Ingredients
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Food coloring
  • 3 oz of vegetable oil
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt

PREP TIME

20 minutes

COOK TIME

20 minutes

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
2. Pour the flour in oven safe pan.
3. Mix a few drops of food coloring into the water and pour over the flour. Mix well and try to minimize clumps.
4. Bake in oven for 10 minute intervals. Mix with hands every 10 minutes to break up any wet clumps and continue until dry.
5. Once cool, add oil and mix with your hands.
