Valentine’s Day is a special occasion to celebrate love and affection, and what better way to do that than by crafting handmade Valentine’s Day boxes with your kids? In this crafting blog, I’ll take you on a journey through some of our past years’ Valentine’s Day boxes made from shoeboxes. These DIY projects are not only a fun way to spend quality time with your children but also a fantastic opportunity to foster their creativity and imagination.
Gnome Garden Box
Ava went with a classic pink metal mailbox and added a strap to carry all her heavy valentines home. She covered the shoebox in red, pink and white flowers and added moss to the bottom. She then added mini garden gnomes all around to tend her garden. It was simple but full of love!
GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL!
Dylan embraced the magical world of Pokemon! The shoebox was adorned with red, white and black construction paper to resemble a poke ball and we added foil sparks and Pokemon cutouts! It was a whimsical hit!
FEED ME Face box
This is by far my running favorite of all our Valentines boxes. Dylan said he wanted to eat all the valentines …so we ran with that as our theme. We photoshopped his face so that he had an extra wide mouth and printed it on 11×17 paper. It was a hit!
Ava’s “Jojo Jail” -Rainbow Valentine with Bow
Made of rainbow colored popsicle sticks and a red sequin bow! Ava was inspired by her very large collection of Jojo bows and she wanted to “trap all the valentines so they didn’t get out”!
Lego Love
This one was a lot of fun! We glued some sheets of lego to the box and I let Dylan build away! It was very low maintenance for me, which was awesome. He even spelled his name in Legos!
Let’s TACO ‘bout some LOVE!
Ava was dead set on making a “taco emoji” valentines box. Sometimes these kids come up with such interesting ideas! We covered the show box with yellow construction paper and then hot glued a bunch of paper “toppings” inside.
